Slaughtercult: Morbid reincarnation

25/08/06  ||  Lord K Philipson

If you go by the name of “Slaughtercult” you better be fucken brutal. And whaddya know bitches, these bastards are brutal. Not only that, they are also quite catchy. Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Slaughtercult’s latest offering hands out 4 tracks of death/grind madness with 2 vocalists. You know the concept: One of them screams, the other growls. A very tried formula and it definitely works fine with these guys.

What I really dig about Slaughtercult is that in the midst of all grind and shit, they suddenly enter some really heavy-assed breakdowns, completely out of the blue. That gives Slaughtercult a nice touch of innovation even though there’s nothing even remotely fresh about what they do. Try to add that shit together, Einstein.

Slaughtercock is not here to try to re-invent the scene. They are not trying to come up with any new riffs that makes people turn their heads. Slaughtercult simply settles for executing some really nice fucken brutality, and I applaud them for it.

“Morbid reincarnation” (how’s that for trying to be innovative, huh?) has a production that could need some work though, but it’s dirty and raw in its simplicity. It works, and it beats “St. Anger” by lightyears, so…

You won’t find Slaughtercult in the “Fresh Fruit” basket at your local mall. Death/grind is not s’posed to be all that fucken fresh anyways.

Good work guys. Good fucken work.
